Suspension, downgrading and revocation
Where the Home Office has concerns, it can downgrade the licence to a B-rating with an action plan, suspend it while it investigates, or revoke it. A suspended sponsor cannot assign new Certificates of Sponsorship, and existing workers are placed in an uncertain position.
Revocation curtails the permission of sponsored workers and imposes a cooling-off period before the business can apply again. For organisations that depend on sponsored staff, that is a business continuity issue rather than a paperwork issue.
