The route is for qualified health and social care professionals with a job offer in an eligible occupation from an approved employer, sponsored in the same way as a Skilled Worker but with reduced fees and exemption from the immigration health surcharge.
Eligibility depends on the specific occupation code and on the employer's status, so both need checking before an offer is accepted.
Regulated roles require registration with the relevant professional body. Overseas qualifications may need assessment, and regulators set their own English language standards, which are separate from the immigration requirement.
Sequencing matters: a start date agreed before registration is confirmed is a common cause of withdrawn offers.
Enforcement in the care sector has left many workers affected by employer non-compliance. If your employer's licence is revoked, your permission is normally curtailed and you have a short window to act.
